Our accessibility commitment
The Beachcomber at Crystal Cove is committed to making our website usable by people with disabilities. We are improving this website with the goal of meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.
Improvements on this website
- Menu links, linked photographs, award badges and partner logos have descriptive text or accessible names.
- Navigation uses meaningful text labels, including Bootlegger Bar and Catering.
- A skip-to-content link and a marked main region are included in the reviewed page templates, with a main heading identifying each page.
- News articles are linked by their titles rather than a list of generic Read more links.
- All eight restaurant menus are available as HTML text with section headings, item descriptions and prices. PDF downloads, where provided, are supplementary. Sample catering packages and menus are also available as an HTML page.
Evaluation and next steps
Our priority is to complete the WCAG 2.2 Level AA review and resolve any remaining barriers as promptly as possible. The work includes automated checks and manual reviews of keyboard navigation, screen-reader use, browser zoom, mobile layouts, contrast and forms. We intend to seek independent evaluation and, if arranged and supported by its findings, certification. No certification has been issued or scheduled, and full WCAG conformance has not yet been established.
This statement applies to the Beachcomber website at thebeachcombercafe.com. Accessibility evaluation and improvements are ongoing.
Documents and external services
HTML menus provide an alternative to downloadable PDFs, including our sample catering menu. The six restaurant menu PDFs remain untagged; PDF tagging and reading order will be reviewed when those menus are next updated. The accessibility and tagging of each PDF have not been certified. Menu content and prices require continuing staff review.
Reservations, fire-pit bookings, gift cards and newsletter services involve external providers. Their interfaces can change and require continuing checks. Please contact us if you encounter a barrier or need information in another format.
